NOLA Cocktails at SPACE

October 10th, 2012 | Posted by Sean in Events! | NOLA | Recipes

I’m very excited to be joining Trey behind the bar at SPACE Gallery tomorrow night for a special tribute to New Orleans through one of its most important exports: the modern cocktail.

The event is a multimedia rumination on Post-Katrina New Orleans with music for string quartet by composer Sebastian Currier and video by artist Pawel Wojtasik. The contemporary, immersive work is, in Currier’s words, “an elegy for a future that must not happen: New Orleans has been submerged under water.”

Heavy stuff. You’ll need a stiff drink. We’ll be mixing up some NOLA classics and contemporaries, doing our small part to help prevent a future without New Orleans’ influence in the spirit world.

On the menu:

Vieux Carré

Sazerac (of course!)

Bywater (we’re getting by with an Averna kludge of Trey’s design for this one, thanks to Maine’s liquor import strangeness).

The St Charles Punch

This is a new venture into the world of cocktails for SPACE, and I’m happy that we get to be a part of that. The event starts at 7:30, and the doors open at 6:30 for drinks and mingling. More details here. Hope to see you there.
