I’m very excited to be joining Trey behind the bar at SPACE Gallery tomorrow night for a special tribute to New Orleans through one of its most important exports: the modern cocktail.
The event is a multimedia rumination on Post-Katrina New Orleans with music for string quartet by composer Sebastian Currier and video by artist Pawel Wojtasik. The contemporary, immersive work is, in Currier’s words, “an elegy for a future that must not happen: New Orleans has been submerged under water.”
Heavy stuff. You’ll need a stiff drink. We’ll be mixing up some NOLA classics and contemporaries, doing our small part to help prevent a future without New Orleans’ influence in the spirit world.
On the menu:
• Sazerac (of course!)
• Bywater (we’re getting by with an Averna kludge of Trey’s design for this one, thanks to Maine’s liquor import strangeness).
This is a new venture into the world of cocktails for SPACE, and I’m happy that we get to be a part of that. The event starts at 7:30, and the doors open at 6:30 for drinks and mingling. More details here. Hope to see you there.
